Failed! Damn....

The large model print test, really good detail part, but the same accident happened. The PDMS layer was broken...
Hmmm, hundreds of scratching shaved off the surface. Then the PDMS broke, and the resin cured on the acryl vat directly. I do not know this problem, can be resolved by adjusting the exposure time.

Challenge again

I re-built the PDMS layer, and test printing again. In this time, the setting of exposure time is below.

[ Configuration ]
Attach (first) Layer(s) Exposure (sec) : 35.000
Number of Attach (first) Layers : 4
Initial Image Exposure (sec) : 20.000
Variable Perimeter Exposure (sec) : 20.000

( Left is New one )

The result was better than before result. The edges are very sharp.
I feel a 20.000 seconds exposure is good. But Attach Layers Exposure time: 35.000 is too long, or Number of Attach Laters: 4 is too many.

And I tried one more idea. I used (Silicon release agent?) spray on the surface of PDMS for easy release of cured resin from PDMS.

hmmm, it's difficult!

After the printing a small model for test, I retried the big model. In the first attachment layers build, sticking occurs between the cured resin and the PDMS. Also, the cured resin is slowly destroys the surface of the PDMS.

This yellow resin cured very fast, and could express detailed part. I think this resin is a good choice, if I could solve the problem.

It is necessary to try several times more.

Another resin test

I got a yellow resin via internet, and tried first test. The configuration was same as B9's red resin. In this photo, it seems good. But I feel this resin is more sensitive than red one. I mean this exposure time(for red resin) setting was too long for this yellow resin. I think the light might be easily diffused in this resin. The resin is strongly adhered to PDMS because it was it would peel off. I'll retry other setting for exposure.

[ Configuration ]
Attach (first) Layer(s) Exposure (sec) : 40.000
Number of Attach (first) Layers : 4
Initial Image Exposure (sec) : 25.000
Variable Perimeter Exposure (sec) : 25.000

Total Layers to Print : 89

Hybrid

Almost I got about my 3D printer. And next, I returned to develop GMP script.
Now, I'm using 'Skin' modifier to make body parts, but in this method, I couldn't make details of the parts. So I need to change 'Vertex Select Mode' to 'Face select Mode' to edit subsurf modified (I mean 'Applied') faces. This is 'Hybrid' system of GMP and GMP2.

After some tries, I got this result. I think this is good, and next is 'Wing shape'.

It's a good, it's a good.

After some 'aborting' problems, I had a suspicious for USB cable was a cause of this. I replace it to another cable, then two new objects were printed successfully.

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Yes!!

After 24 hours, the object were printed successfully. I'm so happy. \(^o^)/

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Nooooooooo!

I tried to print this object fifth times, but the printer aborted this time too.
The b9creator(print software) doesn't have the function that print start from specified layer. If I could specify the start layer, it could resume from aborted point.

I can't believe...

I tried to print the next model, but the printer aborted to print. Three times.
What's going on? It's maybe a bug in the controller or application. Hmmm, damn.

The first work of the year

This is a very first 3D print work of this year 2013.
Almost good, but I need some repair the projector. There are some dust on the DLP chip. I have to clean and put a gasket for prevent the dust enter, near future.
